Jeffrey (Yafeng) Chen has practiced law since 1994. He studied in Australia and subsequently studied and worked in Singapore.

Mr. Chen is Deputy Chair of the Hongkou District Committee on Foreign-Related Legal Services in Shanghai. He also holds a Performance Agent Qualification Certificate issued by the PRC Ministry of Culture and Tourism and an E-Level Football Coaching Certificate issued by the Shanghai Football Association.

In 2003, Mr. Chen received a nomination for the Shanghai Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. In 2019, he was selected for the inaugural Foreign-Related Legal Talent Pool of the Shanghai Law Society. He is a member of the Shanghai Law Society, the Shanghai Society of Foreign-Related Legal Studies, LAWASIA and the International Tax Planning Association (ITPA), and actively participates in several Shanghai chapters of foreign chambers of commerce.

Mr. Chen has served as legal counsel to a European private bank and a Europe-based investment company focused on China. He maintains an established network of legal service partners across ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand.

His core practice areas are international tax compliance and planning, corporate governance and compliance, and dispute resolution in cross-border matters. His current areas of focus also include cross-border investment and M&A, international trade in goods and services, cross-border e-commerce, investment structuring and tax planning, international commercial arbitration, financial consumer protection, and compliance relating to cross-border data transfers.
