Yue Zhang holds a bachelor’s degree in Economic Law and a master’s degree in Criminal Law from East China University of Political Science and Law. He also completed a supplementary diploma program in Finance at East China Normal University. Mr. Zhang is a member of the Communist Party of China.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Zhang served as an assistant judge in the Civil Division and subsequently as a judge and presiding judge in the Criminal Division of the Minhang District People’s Court. He later held several positions with the Minhang District Government and the CPC Minhang District Committee, including Head of the Secretariat Section, Head of the Party Building Section, government lawyer in the Legislative Affairs Office, and Deputy Director of the General Office of the CPC Minhang District Committee at division level.

Mr. Zhang subsequently served as Director of Public Affairs and Director of Administration at a prominent real estate group, and as Executive President of an internet and e-commerce company quoted on China’s National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ).

His paper, “An Analysis of Crimes Committed by Non-local Residents from 1997 to 2007 and Preventive Measures,” was undertaken as a key research project of the Shanghai High People’s Court and published in People’s Court Daily. His article, “Legal Liability Following Revocation of the Business Licence of an Entity Involved in Illegally Taking Deposits from the Public,” was published in Minhang Adjudication and Chinese Journal of Law. Another article, “Whether a Defendant in a Traffic Accident Case Who Has Obtained the Victim’s Forgiveness but Failed to Pay Compensation May Receive a Lenient Sentence,” was included in the case database of the Shanghai High People’s Court.

Mr. Zhang focuses on civil and commercial dispute resolution and criminal defense. Drawing on his experience in the judiciary, government administration and corporate leadership, he also advises companies at different stages of development on legal matters, financing coordination, corporate management, organizational development and strategic decision-making.
