Hong Kong Office
Shanghai Everbright (Hong Kong) Law Firm was established in 2024 with the approval of the Law Society of Hong Kong. It is Everbright’s first office outside Mainland China and a professional platform connecting the firm’s Mainland practice with international markets. Operating in close coordination with the Shanghai headquarters and relevant practice teams, the Hong Kong Office focuses on cross-border restructuring and insolvency and related dispute resolution.
Drawing on Everbright’s long-standing experience in bankruptcy administration, out-of-court restructurings and complex commercial disputes, the Hong Kong Office advises creditors, debtors, investors, administrators and liquidators in China and overseas on cross-border debt restructurings, recognition and assistance proceedings, asset tracing and control, offshore asset recovery and realization, and related litigation, arbitration and enforcement. In 2025, the office assisted a Mainland administrator in securing recognition and assistance from the High Court of Hong Kong for the insolvency proceeding of a Shanghai company—the first such case involving a Shanghai proceeding under the Mainland–Hong Kong framework for mutual recognition and assistance in insolvency matters.
The Hong Kong Office works with local Hong Kong counsel and with liquidators, lawyers and other professionals in Singapore, Indonesia and other jurisdictions. For complex multijurisdictional matters, it coordinates legal, financial and restructuring expertise around the client’s objectives, delivering clear, practical and actionable solutions across Mainland China, Hong Kong and other Asian and offshore jurisdictions.
